Frequently Asked Questions About the Nest Learning Thermostat

Is the Nest Thermostat compatible with my heating system?

The Nest Learning Thermostat is compatible with most gas central heating boilers as well as wet underfloor heating systems. Our installation engineer will be able to provide further information when on site.

Combi boilers, System boilers, Heat only boilers, S plan, Y plan, Air and Ground source heat pumps, Biomass boilers, District heating, HIU compatible.

I already have a wireless thermostat. Will Nest work with my heating system?

As you already have a wireless thermostat installed then it is likely that the Nest Thermostat will work with your heating system.

Is the Nest Thermostat wireless?

The connection between the thermostat and the Heat link is wireless. The Nest Thermostat does require power and this is provided either via the heat link that is sold with the device, a plug sold with the nest stand or via a low voltage supply from your property.

I don’t have a power supply at the location I want the thermostat installed, what are my options?

Under our standard installation, best thing would be to install the Nest on a stand which costs £35. The stand can be placed on an occasional table, dresser of shelf and will work as optimally as if the thermostat was installed on a wall.

I want the thermostat installed on the wall but I don’t have a wire with supply at that location.

This is a non-standard installation; our engineer will advise work that would need to be done. There will be a charge for any additional installation works that are not part of the standard installation service. No additional work will begin before its agreed.

I am not very technical. Is it easy to use?

Yes! The Nest Thermostat learns your behaviours in your property and it reacts. The level of interaction required is minimal. You can leave it to manage your heating without programming a schedule.

I have a second hand unit, can you fit it?

Yes. Please contact us first. If you supply parts, we can only offer warranty on new units. We can still install secondhand Nest products but we do not sell them nor take any responsibility for their function.

I have more than 2 thermostats. How do I make a purchase?

Multiple thermostats (more than two) is commonly known multi zoned heating. Just call us to book and tell us your requirements. Our engineers take card payments and quantities required can be arranged beforehand

Which trade is a Nest Pro?

Nest Pros have been accredited by google that they can set up install and sell the Nest Learning Thermostat. Assigned to companies its their technicians that are best for the job.

In addition to the standard UK business requirements of any registered company also requires qualifications. Although not statutory the BS 7671 will set the standard for how electrical installations should be completed by an electrician in the UK and enables compliance with the law.

Every home is different with some installs falling into the scope of requiring a competent or skilled person to remove non decorative boiler covers.

I called Mike after reading his reviews online and I don’t have enough words to describe how happy I am with the service he provided. It is rare to find a professional who genuinely goes above and beyond to ensure their client's satisfaction and Mike did exactly that going more than the extra mile to help me resolve persistent issues with my heating system.

From the onset, Mike was great installing my Google Nest thermostats, his attention to detail and commitment to ensuring that the devices were correctly integrated into my existing system was impressive and greatly appreciated.

However, what truly sets Mike apart from others is his dedication to customer satisfaction, even when faced with challenges beyond his scope of work. My heating system was not working due to issues unrelated to the nest thermostats and when I called Mike for advice he returned to my flat on three separate occasions, troubleshooting and diagnosing the problem.

Mike's generosity did not stop there, he even ordered the required parts for me and installed them, despite this being well beyond his job obligations, so I wouldn’t have to find a new engineer just before Christmas.

Throughout the entire process Mike was super kind, answered all my messages promptly and clearly knows what he is doing!
